Our Optometrists
Annemarie Smit
Annemarie Lindeque-Smit was born and raised in Parys. She obtained her B.Optom degree with distinction from the University of Johannesburg and opened a private practice, Provision Optometrists, in 2004. Her focus in practice is holistic: The eye is a window to your health and with every eye examination, she not only strives for excellence and appropriate vision correction, but also focuses on the health of the eye and how it relates to rest of the body. Ocular coherence tomography is included with every eye examination. This is a safe way to scan the eye 3 dimensionally. Annemarie also specializes in the fitting of advanced scleral and ortho-K contact lenses. She did training and has extensive experience in fitting personalized progressive lenses. The last few years she did numerous courses in Behavioural optometry, Neurology and Syntonics, confirming her passion for people, vision and optometry. Her slogan is: by giving vision, I live mine. Anyone who knows Annemarie will agree that she strives for excellence in all she does, but always in a manner of meticulous care and empathy. Annemarie is married to Johan, a geohydrologist and they have three sons.
Wané de Villiers (Optometrist)
Wané is the junior optometrist in the practice, but her knowledge, care and fabulous personality, puts her ahead of many senior optometrists. Wané grew up in Lichtenburg on a farm, and obtained her B.Optom degree in 2023 at the University of the Free State. She says: “For me Optometry is not just a job, it’s a calling to which I believe I have been called to.” Wané loves building relationships and especially loves to work with children. She is qualified to do cycloplegic refractions, visual therapy and reflex integration with the use of laser and other modalities. Wané is married to a farmer and enjoys family time and the outdoors. She is quite an adventurer and loves a bit of adrenalin.
Christa Oosthuizen (Optometrist)
Christa is our part-time optometrist. She is married to PC, a farmer in the area and they have a one year old daughter. Christa grew-up close to Parys in Sasolburg. She obtained her Optometry degree at the University of the Free State and graduated in 2017. In 2020 she did a postgraduate diploma in business management at the North West University.
The reason why Christa chose Optometry as a career was partly due to her calling to work in allied health care and also because of her passion to work with people one on one. Her main focus in life is to do everything to the glory of God.
In 2021 Christa worked for a refractive ophthalmologist where she gained excellent experience in the area of pathology of the eye and as a certified laser technician for Alcon.
Her journey at Provision started February 2022. At Provision she was exposed to new sspecialties she excells in.
When Christa is not at the practice, she enjoys time on the farm, planting vegetables and caring for her family.
Our Amazing Admin Team
Retha Maree (Administrative manager)
Retha Maree grew up near Parys, in the quiet town of Vredefort, where the close-knit community and peaceful surroundings shaped her early years.
In 1996, she began her career at Du Plessis Optometrists in Fochville, marking the start of her journey in the optometry field. Here she gained invaluable experience in patient care and the technical aspects of optometry.
Rerha opened the doors of Provision Optometrists with Annemarie in January 2004 and since then she has never looked back. Today, more than 20 years later, Retha is not only the administrative manager, but also part of the heartbeat of Provision. She and Annemarie are not only colleagues, but like sisters after so many years.
Retha is married to Danie, and are blessed with two grandchildren.
When Retha is not at the practice, she enjoys quality time with her husband away from home, and in her spare time she loves spending time in her sewing room.
Marietjie Snyders – Receptionist
Marietjie is eager to learn new skills and she is our soft contact lens admin lady and she is also skilled in cutting lenses in our mini-lab.

Marietjie is married to Willem, an excellent electrician. She has a daughter and is privileged to be a grandmother of three grandchildren.
Jorita Pienaar – Admin & Accounts
“I love working with people and making people feel good about themselves. My secret talent is taking photos of any memorable moment and God’s beautiful creation.”
Michelle van der Merwe
From 2016 to 2022, Michelle worked as a dedicated teacher in Randburg and from 2022-2024 she worked in a home-school centre in Alberton, helping young minds grow and develop. Her commitment to learning led her to further herself with courses in TEFL, Trauma Counselling, and Childhood Disorders—studying their causes, symptoms, misdiagnosis, and psychotherapeutic treatment modalities.
Her career then took an exciting turn when she joined Provision Parys, where she also expanded her skill set. She not only received training as a receptionist, but also in Syntonics and had the opportunity to further pursue training to become a BrainRx trainer.
When she’s not working, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, which she met in 2002 as their new neighbors. She loves a good book and her secret talent is: I can talk really fast!!
Johanna Setsipane
Johanna Setsipane grew up and matriculated in Hoopstad.
She completed various courses after school.
Johanna worked as a domestic worker from 1994 until 2024. When her employers moved, another door opened and God blessed her with a work at Provision. Johanna loves and enjoys her job and to work with people very much!!
Johanna keeps Provision spotless, she creates a beautiful clean space and also loves to help with administration. She has a lovely handwriting and in her spare time she enjoys sewing, cooking and going to church.
Soné Muller
Soné Muller also matriculated from Parys Highschool. She married her high-school sweetheart and settled in Parys. They have been blessed with two children.
After school Soné’s journey in administration launched at Senwes where she worked for 5 years. She decided it is time for a change November 2024, making her the newest employee at Provision. Her secret talent is cooking a storm in the kitchen!!
